A world-class eye care center, pioneering collaborative vision research, and training the next generation of specialists deserves a world class environment. Working with HGA, McCarthy Building Companies Inc and Vanir Construction Management, we helped bring it to life.
UC Davis is able to achieve breakthroughs in eye health because we are a unique academic medical center with an interdisciplinary approach to helping people live better, healthier, more fulfilling lives. The Ernest E. Tschannen Eye Institute Building is a perfect embodiment of our mission at UC Davis Health. David Lubarsky, CEO of UC Davis Health and vice chancellor of human health sciences
Warm, natural toned materials used for both the building exterior and interiors, leveraging the clear glass curved curtain wall, filtered light and open space, and creating access to the outdoors and views contribute to the human centered design.
High-contrast colors and textures throughout improve wayfinding for people with low vision, and hospitality inspired furnishings in the common spaces encourage comfort and relaxation. And we made sure the provider and administrative spaces furniture mirrored the soft, welcoming biophilic inspired design. Amorette Ramirez, One Workplace Senior Designer
