Adjustable Armrests

Three types of Adjustments

Height

Too high and you'll hunch your shoulders. Too low and you'll slouch. Armrests that are just right promote a comfortable posture, keeping your forearms supported and your elbows at a right-angle.

Width

Your arms should be supported close to your body when you work. Without proper width adjustment, most users must extend their arms outward at an awkward angle.

Pivot

By itself, a pivot adjustment can actually aggravate muscle strain by forcing elbows away from the body.

But when incorporated into armrests that also can be adjusted for width, it provides a big ergonomic advantage. The pivot action ensures improved support for a range of arm postures.

Computer users, for instance, frequently bend their arm to the side to manipulate a mouse. A pivoting armrest supports use of keyboard and mouse. How Proper Arm Support Improves Sitting Comfort

Additional Benefits

  1. Relieves strain on your neck and shoulders, especially when keyboarding
  2. Reduces pressure on spine, encouraging you to lean back rather than slump forward
  3. Distributes weight more evenly
  4. Makes it easier to position your forearms, wrists and hands in a natural position, considered ideal for keyboarding
  5. Gives you a boost when standing up, so your knees and hips don't do all the work
