Steelcase Exemplary Performance Award

B&OI maintains the honor of having received the Steelcase Exemplary Performance Award. This award, based on the Malcolm Baldridge Award Criteria, requires documented performance relative to eight critical standards including: leadership, planning, human resource, customer focus and quality management, market position, financial management, business performance, and service capacity.

Completion of a rigorous thirty-page standards assessment and a three-day site visit are used as a basis for judging the final recipients. The site visit team typically includes: a member of Steelcase Senior Management, a Steelcase Dealer Business Consultant, and two principals of highly regarded dealerships. In the ten-year history of the Award, only 27 dealerships (there are nearly 400 in the country) have ever received this recognition. It is Steelcase’s highest standard and ranks among the highest in the furniture industry.

B&OI is the only Steelcase Dealership in the Pacific Northwest Region who has ever earned the Exemplary Performance Award, the highest level of award recognition.

AFS Qualification

Bank & Office Interiors and Steelcase are committed to the highest standards of service and performance. Steelcase has extended that commitment for customers with specialized business needs by creating the Advanced Furniture Services (AFS) Qualification.

All Steelcase dealers must meet specific standards to become Authorized Steelcase Dealers. Authorization measures a broad range of capabilities and practices, including product and workplace knowledge. B&OI has not only met the knowledge and service standards required of all Authorized Steelcase Dealers, but has also demonstrated our expertise in Asset Management and related services to a level of earning the AFS Qualification.

Implementation of a five year business plan including a Policies and Procedure Manual for warehousing and asset management practices. Key areas of focus are Reporting, Cycle Counting, Shipping, Receiving, Brokering, and Training.
Completed a field audit with a score of 98% (AFS requires 90% or higher). Audit is based on implementation and adherence to policies, warehouse safety, operational ability, and inventory accuracy.
Project Management staff successfully passed the Steelcase Advanced Project Manager Test focused on seven major categories of the PM process: Preplanning, Planning, Specifying, Ordering, Pre-Installation, Installation, and Project Closure.
